Similar to a verdant mountain where life thrives and grows, Kuaola, a trio of talented young men, are fast-becoming rising stars on the local music scene. Formed in 2016, Kuaola band members are: Kalani Librando-Souza, ‘ukulele player and falsetto vocalist, who graduated from King Kekaulike High School in 2013 and the UH Maui College Institute of Hawaiian Music in 2015; Nalu Robinson, bass player from Wailuku, who graduated from H.P. Baldwin High School in 2014, and Shem (Kema) Kahawaii, slack key guitarist, who graduated from King Kekaulike High School in 2014 and is enrolled in UH Maui College’s Institute of Hawaiian Music.
