The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ
Reading I: Daniel 12:1-3
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 93:1, 1-2, 5
Reading II: Revelation 1:5-8
Gospel: John 18:33b-37
The kingdom of God is not built on power. Jesus never pushed anybody inside. He is very accommodating and compassionate to the weak and little ones. Those who believe in their own power cannot push their way in; they first have to become like children. Jesus’ kingdom is not a kingdom of slaves. It is a kingdom of free service. The kingdom of God is not built on money. Membership or leadership in God’s kingdom cannot be bought for it will distort the whole direction of life in that kingdom.
The kingdom of God is not built on what impresses the world. The world creates kings or people who feel that they are more than the others because they have more. It leads to discrimination which is destructive of brotherhood. This may be the reason why God’s kingdom is not with us. If Jesus won the loyalty of his disciples, especially after the resurrection, and if so many Christians became martyrs, it must have been because they believed in the coming of God’s kingdom in Jesus, which is the giving of His life and the caring for people in their needs. They believed in Him, not because of all the beautiful truths He taught, but because He was the truth.
HAPPY FEAST DAY TO ONE AND ALL…
