Jesus asked… “But you, who do you say I am?” Is he our personal friend, teacher, model? Who is he in our life? As Christians we have to know who Jesus is. We cannot just repeat what others say that Jesus is the Son of God, the second person of the Holy Trinity, the teacher of upright living, the revelation of God’s love, the miracle worker. All of these are true but for us, in our own understanding, who is he? Peter called him the Son of the Living God. In Peter’s time, many people worshipped idols made of stone or wood, dead gods. Peter believes in a living God, a God who is active in our life. If we believe in Jesus, our life becomes the manifestation of a living faith. Peter’s correct reply to the question of Jesus, “who do you say I am?” is not a product of his own wisdom but of his faith in God. It was prompted by the Father. Let us always open our hearts to experience God’s love for us daily
