The Path of Jesus from the Manger to the Cross

Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
Holy Week

Today, we commemorate the entry of Jesus in the city of Jerusalem. He is the person who decided to go to Jerusalem notwithstanding the advice to the contrary of his disciples. He knows very well what awaits him there. He will be riding on a donkey when he enters the city of Jerusalem. The owner of the donkey had been informed that the master would use it. Jesus was not entering the city on a horse, for it would present him as a warrior. He entered riding on a donkey. He entered as a peaceful person, and he maintained his serenity on the cross, remaining a man of forgiveness.

Jesus died with his arms open on the cross, ready to embrace the whole world. When Jesus entered the world, He was wrapped in swaddling clothes like any newborn baby, dependent on people’s love. He left the world the same way. The soldiers cast lots over his clothes, leaving no material things to be divided among his disciples. He was born in a cave, not a house of his own, and was buried in a cave, somebody else’s tomb. He came for us, with total commitment to his mission, not for possessions or personal ambitions.
