Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
The Lord is Risen, Alleluia! The feast of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus is the greatest feast of the year, even greater than Christmas and any other religious feast. We have heard many times this phrase, we are saved because He died for us. This is not entirely wrong, but it is very incomplete. If Jesus’ death was the end, how could he save us? His suffering and death would be in vain. The truth is that Jesus saves us through His life, His suffering and death, and His resurrection from the dead, the whole of it. Without His resurrection, His life, suffering and death are meaningless for our salvation.
In our religious practices, we seem to focus more on the birth of Jesus on Christmas, and his suffering and death on Good Friday. Easter seems to be focused more on fanfare like Easter egg hunt, Easter bunny, etc. Easter is the great feast of Jesus’ rising from the dead which is the crown of God’s salvation. It affects every one of us at the deepest core of our existence because it opens for us the way to eternal life. Without Jesus’ life and resurrection there is no hope whatsoever. May the passion that consumed Jesus’ heart also consume our hearts to experience the Risen Lord! The Lord is Risen, Alleluia! Happy Easter everyone!
